Engagement Manager

Building on more than 70 years as a not-for-profit, we are entering an exciting new phase of growth and expansion in the province of British Columbia and are looking for the right person to join our team.

The Engagement Manager is responsible for recruiting, engaging, training, and leading a team of over 50 skilled volunteers who are dedicated to giving their time and sharing knowledge with our clients. We call them “Knowledge Philanthropists”. They’re proven experts in their field and deliver most of our programs in topic areas such as strategic planning, board governance, HR practices and more. As required, the position is also responsible for facilitation and delivery of Vantage Point`s workshops, customized training, and strategic planning engagements.


Terms: permanent full-time (35 hours per week)

Reports to: Associate Executive Director

Compensation: $47.5k - $52.5k, plus benefits



Facilitation and Consulting

  • Coach and consult to knowledge philanthropy facilitator team to increase their understanding and implementation of key concepts related to board governance, human resources, capacity building, strategic leadership, next generation leadership, strategic planning, and facilitation techniques.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for senior executives and board members from not-for-profit organizations on a variety of topics including leadership, team building, board governance, and more.
  • Facilitate strategic planning engagements with not-for-profit clients.

HR and Relationship Management

  • Recruit, engage, train, and lead entire team of knowledge philanthropist facilitators, coaches and mentors.
  • Design and deliver a robust train-the-trainer program for all facilitators, including orientation to Vantage Point vision, mission, and approach to ensure high quality delivery aligned with our brand and organizational culture.
  • Work with employees and knowledge philanthropists to ensure a consistent approach to delivering intended curriculum and learning outcomes across all programs.
  • Lead administration of knowledge philanthropist facilitators, coaches, and mentors, keeping up-to-date contact information, bios, headshots, and historical tracking of engagements.
  • Develop and maintain a community of practice for the facilitator team to strengthen value of the knowledge philanthropy role and enhance quality of delivery.
  • Provide coaching to facilitators, coaches, and mentors, as appropriate.


  • Minimum 4 years` experience facilitating groups of adult learners. Able to facilitate and present in an engaging and impactful way. Facilitation in a virtual environment an asset (e.g., webinars).
  • High level of passion for people engagement; strong belief in the capacity for meaningful, skilled volunteering to transform lives and enrich communities.
  • Experience and knowledge of the not-for-profit environment, as an employee or volunteer.
  • Project management experience, or the ability to lead multiple complex pieces of work in an organized and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit organizational capacity, including governance, leadership, management, and strategic planning.
  • Personal commitment to ongoing learning and delivering work with excellence.
  • Strong team building ethic with the ability to develop, motivate and coach integrated teams of employees and knowledge philanthropists to deliver high quality work.
  • High aptitude for technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint) and CRMs (e.g.. Salesforce).
  • Last, but certainly not least, a propensity for these three qualities
