Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Partnerships, the Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of activities that support the partnerships team and MSFHR’s partnerships strategy.  The Partnerships Coordinator will have a positive, professional and outgoing personality and will be skilled at building and sustaining relationships. Working with the Foundation’s stakeholders, they will deliver the highest level of quality and be driven to contribute to the Foundation’s reputation and success.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership coordination

  • Supports the Manager, Partnerships in the implementation of MSFHR’s partnerships strategy, through the development of robust tools and processes related to intake, assessment and decision-making of partnership opportunities. 

  • Prepares, and updates as needed, partnership documents such as partnership proposals, meeting summaries, agreements, and award packages based on existing templates where available.

  • Works collaboratively with the Communications team to prepare marketing and promotional materials for partnerships (e.g., brochures, articles and, website content).

  • Works collaboratively with Research Competitions staff when securing and maintaining partnerships on MSFHR-led competitions, ensuring internal processes related to both competitions and partnerships are aligned and upheld.   

  • Liaises with the Finance team regarding partnership agreements and partner contributions.  

  • Coordinates partnerships for MSFHR-led competitions, identifies applicants suitable for partnered awards, matches partners with applicants, and provides support to identify, recruit and retain partners. 

  • Designs, develops, populates, maintains, and updates tools for tracking relationships with both existing and prospective partners; including partnership identification, requests, negotiations and decisions/ agreements. 

  • Works collaboratively with the Evaluation and Impact Analysis team to identify and collect metrics related to monitoring the outputs and impacts of MSFHR partnership activity.

Partnership development and partner relations

  • Supports the Manager, Partnerships in developing and nurturing relationships with current and prospective partner organizations, including assessing, securing and managing of partnership opportunities. This includes engaging in outreach activities with stakeholder organizations to explore partnership opportunities.

  • Supports the Manager, Partnerships in the promotion, development and management of MSFHR’s funding-based partnerships. This involves actively liaising with current and prospective partners to negotiate, finalize, and implement partnership agreements.

  • Performs environmental scanning, generates leads and undertakes research related to developing new and enhancing existing partnerships.

  • Actively liaises with current partners throughout the lifecycle of the partnership to ensure that the terms of the partnership are being fulfilled and that the partners, partnership and research it supports are being recognized appropriately.

  • Assists the Manager, Partnerships with and provides recommendations for the development and implementation of partner and partnership recognition plans.

  • Provides support in coordinating and planning partnership-related events in collaboration with other staff members and partner organizations.

Education/Work Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in business, healthcare, public relations or a related discipline.

  • Three to five years’ experience preferably with responsibility for partnerships, stakeholder or community relations. Work experience in a research, non-profit, government, educational or health services setting is an asset.

  • Experience in project management/coordination.

  • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholder groups.

  • Experience writing and preparing public-facing materials.

  • Experience in relationship development and/or partnership coordination an asset.

  • Experience with using a CRM an asset.

  • OR Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and sustain meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with stressful, sensitive or difficult situations with tact and diplomacy, including ability to exercise judgment and discretion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and proofreading skills - all of which consider the context, content, style and consistency of messaging to uphold the professional image of the Foundation.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to work independently, identify priorities, complete multiple tasks and deliver results on deadline without close supervision.

  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment, and to shift priorities or change course as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the development and implementation of strategies and tactical plans.

  • General knowledge of health, health research and/or life sciences industries.
