Second Harvest is working to support the tens of thousands of community organizations across Canada struggling to access food for their program participants. is Second Harvest’s free, easy-to-use website that connects businesses that want to donate their good food, with pre-approved nonprofit organizations that pick up the donations. is a conduit for getting food to vulnerable people who cannot afford groceries. It is a safe, accessible and scalable tool that can be mobilized immediately to support food distribution efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Second Harvest’s goal is to get businesses registering and donating food to the non-profit organizations across the country that will stay open to provide critical, life-saving support to our most marginalized communities.

The Food Rescue Canadian Alliance (FRCA) Task Force is being created to address issues related to the redistribution of surplus food during the
COVID-19 pandemic. The FRCA will make food donation and recovery available to organizations that have the capacity (staff) to ensure food is distributed to communities in need. We are looking for transformational leaders like you. The founding members of the FRCA include transformational leaders in the food industry and not-for-profit sector and government who are eager to support the redistribution of food during this pandemic.
