COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR
SKIPPING STONE FOUNDATION
Full-time, permanent position
35hrs/wk – in office
Calgary, Alberta

Compensation: $87,500/year + benefits

The Community Engagement Director builds and maintains relationships between Skipping Stone and the communities we support and serve in the aim of enhancing: community awareness & public education, promoting programs, and facilitating meaningful relationships and interactions.

This role is responsible for:
• Strategy Development: As part of Skipping Stone’s leadership group, this role contributes to the creation and execution of strategies to boost community engagement & achieve Skipping Stone’s strategic goals.
• Relationship Building: Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with community members, leaders, and partner organizations.
• Event Management: Organizing, coordinating and running community events, workshops, and meetings.
• Outreach and Promotion: Raising awareness about Skipping Stone’s programs and initiatives through representing Skipping Stone at community gatherings, such as festivals, resources fairs and fundraisers.
• Evaluation and Feedback: Tracking engagement data, gathering feedback, and using data to inform strategies.

The person in this role should be a:
• Community Member: in keeping with our community-led organizational model, this person has lived experience as a Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary or gender diverse individual.
• Empathetic Communicator: who possesses strong communication, listening and interpersonal and leads with kindness, humility and compassion.
• Bridge Builder: who has strong passion and drive to support and uplift community members and a demonstrated ability of creating meaningful, authentic and impactful relationships.
• Effective Organizer: who has demonstrated experience in event planning, including overseeing logistics, budgets, activities & people. They should have good time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Collaborative Leader: who is supportive and empowering of their fellow team members, works well in a team and can also be self-motivated and advance initiatives independently.

This role also requires:
• A flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings and weekends for events & activities
A valid driver’s licence, vehicle and willingness to travel to activities outside the office (all vehicle use and mileage is compensated above salary)
A vulnerable sector information check (or equivalent)

Skipping Stone connects trans and gender diverse youth, adults and families in the province of Alberta with low-barrier access to the supports and services that they need and deserve including community and social based supports as well as mental health and medical services. Since inception in 2017, we have connected with and changed the lives over 10,000 youth, adults and families across the province.

Skipping Stone operates on the lands of the Niitsitapi people, including the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, as well as the people of the Iyaxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina first nations. These lands are also within districts 5 & 6 of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
