The Olde Forge is looking for a motivated individual to join our Community Support Services Team. We are inviting applications for the position ofProgram Assistant. The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the administration and delivery of program activities within a portfolio ofOlde Forge’s community support services, including but not limited to the Adult Day program and Recreation programs. The Program Assistant isexpected to work collaboratively with new and existing staff, volunteers and community partners to strengthen the organization and prepareit for the exciting future ahead. As a member of the Community Support team, the Program Assistant participates in special events asneeded to support the overall goals of the organization. They work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will beaccountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Key responsibilities include:î¬ Assists with program logistics, such as room setup and tear down, scheduling facilitators/volunteers, arranging transportation, etc.(Lifting up to 25 lbs for assisting clients and setting up program spaces)î¬ Monitors program supplies and assists with procuring necessary materials.î¬ Supports the facilitation of program activities, ensuring new clients are registered, attendance is taken, and activities start and end ontime.î¬ Collaborates with other team members to ensure the seamless delivery of services.î¬ Assists with ensuring all necessary equipment, materials, and services are available and accessible for program activities.î¬ Responds to inquiries and requests from clients, staff, and volunteers, providing information about services and triaging issues asneeded.î¬ Builds and maintains ongoing rapport with clients to enhance their experience and engagement.î¬ Communicates schedules, responds to support requests, and provides updates to volunteersî¬ Assists with other agency duties as required, such as fundraising, seasonal programming, and event support.î¬ Reports all concerns to Management Team Required Knowledge and Experience:î¬ College Diploma or combined education/experience in Social Work, Recreation, Gerontology, Human Resources, VolunteerManagement or a related field. Equivalencies will be considered.î¬ A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with clients with dementia and frail elderly.î¬ Current First Aid Certification.î¬ Effective oral and written communication skills in English.î¬ Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with other staff, clients, and volunteers.î¬ Intermediate level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office 365 applications.î¬ Ability to work flexible hours on occasion.î¬ Ability to work remotely if required to meet organizational and public health guidelines.î¬ A successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check will be required prior to the start of employment. Assets:î¬ An understanding of the non-profit, voluntary and community support services sectors.î¬ Experience using Alayacare client management software.î¬ The ability to communicate in both official languages.î¬ Proficiency in languages other than English and French.î¬ Clean and valid Ontario Driver’s License.î¬ Access to a vehicle.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $20.45 per hour. Vacation pay in lieu of time.Position type: PermanentSchedule: This position works 28 hours per week Monday, Tuesday and Friday within the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm (hours per week may be flexiblefor the ideal candidate).Location: Our programs are offered in various locations within the Olde Forge service area in Ottawa’s west end including our main office locatedat 2730 Carling Avenue.Start date: August 2025.
